The Naked Midwives is made up of two practising midwives - Alex Williams and Samantha Pantlin. We provide comprehensive and complete antenatal education in lovely locations. It is our mission to change the face of antenatal classes and parentcraft in the UK!
When did you start your small business and why?
We started the Naked Midwives a little over a year ago. It came about to address the need we saw time and time again when women were in labour - they felt they had 'failed' if they didn't achieve a pain free, non intervention birth. We want all women to feel their birth is a positive experience regardless of the type of delivery. Knowledge is power and with the right knowledge of how and when things may happen, women and their birth partners can feel empowered and involved in the labour and birth of their baby.
Tell us about your most memorable or greatest achievement so far:
The feedback from the women and their partners who have taken part in our classes. They become friends and contributors to how we grow the business and the content of the classes. Its wonderful feeling like you have played a small part in their birth journey.
Who is your biggest influence or role model?
Women! The women we care for, other women in business who are building brands and business as well as having families. Women are inspirational and, as a midwives, we love hearing their stories.
What do you hope to bring to Dorset Bump to Baby Show 2018?
Enthusiasm and a huge smile! (And maybe some of our vaginal cupcakes that went down so well last year!)
What’s next for The Naked Midwives?
We are growing The Naked Midwives and expanding our network of classes with plans to franchise later this year.
If you could give one piece of advice for a new mum what would it be?
Be kind to yourself - you've just grown a human being, that's some kind of superpower!
And just for fun...
City or Countryside?
Rugged, windswept cliff and beach walks please!
Bump or Baby?
Bump with the first pregnancy, then baby!
Chocolate or Chia Seeds?
CHOCOLATE (is this a real question?!)
Mumpreneur or woman in business?
Both Alex and I are 'mumpreneur's' as we have kids, but my children are older - so guess we are a mix of the two!
Tea or Coffee?
Depends on time of day.....
Reading a book or watching a film?
Obsessively Tidy or Organised Chaos?
Think its organised chaos with an occasional manic tidy session!
